Turkey Fry 3

We won the game Saturday. Kim says that makes us for us losing to UConn in the basketball championships last year, since we pretty much creamed their football team. They did do this weird thing where they argued about the very last play and got to do it over, just so they could get a touchdown, and make it so they lost by 20 points instead of 27. What happened to losing gracefully? (We were all freezing at that point and wanted to go home).

I wore the kitty hat my sister made me to practice on Saturday morning. The hat is purple with orange and green stripes, ear flaps, and pompoms in addition to the kitty ears. I got two comments on it: one from Boezi: "That is so a hat someone from California would buy." To which I told him my sister made it for me and he said "Even better." Then Chris/Texas jumped for joy and said "That is the best hat ever!"

Karen, Laura (another roommate), and two of Laura's friends, and I went to go see The Incredibles Friday night. It's fantastic. I really liked it. It wasn't sappy - it actually had the theme "If everybody's special, no one is," which makes me wonder how they got this movie distributed by Disney.

Yesterday was the trombone Turkey Fry. I made 50 pounds of mashed potatoes for it, which wasn't too hard, actually. I'm used to making tons of mashed potatoes, too. It was about the right amount, they only ran out when the very last people in line were getting food. As always, it was a travesty in hygiene with raw turkeys everywhere but I don't think anyone will get sick from food poisoning.

It was fun, though. Kim made 25 gallons of sweet tea. I think with that and the potatoes my room contributed the largest volume of food of anyone. Most other people brought one or two aluminum pans of side dishes. One trombone, Josh, makes incredible sweet potatoes. On the other hand, Walker made a broccoli casserole that at first look, might have been brownies from how long he cooked it (Walker is known for putting a metal pot in the microwave for half an hour at the last turkey fry. Surprisingly the microwave survived. The pot, however, did not.)

This week should be semi-relaxing compared to last week. I don't have any lab reports to write and the only tests I have are in Synth Lab and psychology, which aren't bad. They're reading and memorization, rather than tons and tons of procedural stuff like the thermo and transport tests I had last week.

Which reminds me. Last night I was in bed and the springs were squeaking whenever I moved. Since it never squeaked before and the weather has changed my thought was, "It must be a function of temperature." Not "It's because of the cold," but "a function of temperature." School is really altering how I think.
