Simply not having Synth Lab tomorrow makes my week so much better. For instance, normally right now I'd be working on the lab report, with probably ten hour of work behind me and two ahead. Then tomorrow I'd have the four hour lab itself, where I'd get back the old lab report and find out I got 20% off for things like not having a closing on the memo, having impurities in my NMR spectrum that are due to the TAs telling me the wrong thing to clean my NMR tube with, using pencil on my questions. That expanse between 2 and 6 tomorrow looks so lovely.
Though I do have to work on a group project for most of the morning and afternoon anyway. But it's okay. That project is for Transport and it's working out quite well. The guy in our group, John, is really nice and gets everything. He's from New Jersey and in a random moment in our meeting today when I opened up my email said "You're a Republican?" in disbelief (it took me a few seconds before I noticed he'd seen the email from the school Republican group and recognized it) and then said he was one too, and that we definitely ended up at the right school. That was a nicer sentiment than I normally get, which is "why did you come here?".
My sister got online today and we talked about our parents' birthday presents and got them all figured out. That's got to be the best I've ever done.
Had a really annoying dream Sunday morning for several hours that involved "tocurcyclization", a name and concept my brain apparently decided to make up and disturb my sleep. The name referred to a new process of thought which was, rather than a continuous stream of thought, thoughts that recurred at different intervals. There were three types of tocurcyclization of different speeds. My brain decided it was operating on the highest speed so kept waking me up every few seconds. Or at least I thought I woke up. So when I slightly woke up around 9 am even though I could have slept for another hour I got up just so I didn't have to dream that any more.
Stupid brain.
