Karen and I went shopping on Saturday for shoes. I figured out that there were upwards of five shoe stores on a single street in Kennesaw, so we went there.
Yeah, the reason there were five shoes stores within four blocks is because that's apparently the big shopping area for all Atlanta and its suburbs.
Translation: traffic.
In any case, we found shoes. Karen found a pair of pointy-toed high heels that she really liked at the time and today is nursing the blisters from. I got a pair of ballet-style flats to go with the who-the-heck-have-I-become gaucho pants I got over Christmas break, and then at our last stop of the day, Off Broadway Shoes, I was getting depressed over trying to find gray, wide width athletic shoes, so I told Karen, "Let's try on boots to lift our spirits and then go home."
But I ended up really liking the boots. They made my legs look long (stumpy as they are, that's a much desirable attribute), they made me taller, and I just felt cool. So I got them. Ankle boots with a 2 1/2 inch heel.
Though I didn't know the actual height of the heel until Sunday, when I had a group meeting with my Design group. The group leader, Mitch, who seems to vacillate between liking and hating me, saw them when I had my legs crossed and said, "Wow, those give you quite a lift, huh." So when I went home I measured them.
Catherine wrote me from Australia to admit she really misses the TV shows we watched together. That's why I knew I was going to record them for her. TV is so much fun. I mean, there are irritations like when Wonderfalls and Firefly were cancelled before their time, or on X-files when Scully gave up the baby she'd had with Mulder, etc. But overall, TV is just fun. It gives you interest in something else.
Which is why the Design meeting tonight better get done on time. Gilmore Girls is on!
