Another week down. The ice entirely melted by Tuesday and it's just been cold and windy ever since, though there was rain on Wednesday, just at the right time so that those of us who played at the men's basketball game had to walk back in it.

Two weeks after the fact my blood-donation bruise is almost gone. There's still a lump where they stuck the needle, guess that'll take even longer to heal, but that doesn't hurt so it's okay.

This morning an alarm was going off somewhere. I don't know where, whether it was outside, in another building, below me, above me (which would have been Graham), Laura to my left, or what. I couldn't hear it any better when I opened my window, listened at Laura's door, or put my ear to the floor, so I'm going to ask Graham about it later. It went off from 6:30 am till I left. It was quite frustrating.

I need to memorize all the amino acids this weekend for Biochem. Biochem is pretty neat, so far. It's making a lot of the stuff I remember from high school biology make a lot more sense. Like in high school, they talk about the 3' and 5' ends of DNA and you had to know which end was the start and the beginning etc. without really knowing what the 3' and the 5' meant. But in Biochem that's really clear.

The teacher is funny, too. On Tuesday he was going over carbohydrates and kept messing up the structures of glucose and other monosaccharides. As he was switching the orientation of some hydroxyl groups on glucose again he said very sadly, "This is not my sugar day today."

This weekend Catherine and Becky will both be gone, Catherine to a Christian retreat camp and Becky home, which leaves me and Kim. It'll be interesting to have a quiet weekend. I think I'll sleep a lot, and cook good food. My norm.
