Urge to Strangle...Growing

I just added my diaryrings to a separate page, so hopefully my diary loads quicker now. So now I can go on to complain about my quiz in physics.

Not like the quiz was hard. The entire quiz would have taken me ten minutes if it wasn't for the stupid guy I was doing it with.

See, in the physics class, which I'm taking for six weeks at the community college, everything we do is in mandatory groups except homework (which is voluntary groups), the midterm, and the final. I don't like working in groups. Today was no exception.

Here is the question that took us 20 minutes. "Two balls, the same size, moving at the same constant velocity, roll of the edge of a table. Neglect air resistance. Which ball reaches the floor first if one is twice the weight of the other? A. The heavier one B. The lighter one C. They both reach the floor at the same time"

I say C. It's not that hard. Acceleration due to gravity is constant. The teacher has been talking about this since the beginning of the class. If you drop a bowling ball and a feather on the moon, they both reach the moon at the same time because there is so little air on the moon. Constant acceleration.

The guy couldn't get this. Him--"But the force is larger on the heavier ball which makes it go faster." Me--"F=ma. The acceleration is constant. Yes, the force is bigger but the acceleration and therefor speed is the same."

Logic was not working. Finally we had to call the teacher over and have him stand there as we explained it to him (the guy). The teacher nodded vigorously when I said the bowling ball feather thing again, but the guy kept going on. Finally I just circled c and we went on.

So annoying.

Please tell me that in real college it's not like this. Please tell me not everything is done in groups. I know sometimes you need groups, like when you're doing a lab or a play or anything. But not for every single assignment done in class.

Because if it is, I might eventually kill someone.
