Ice Storm

There was supposed to be an ice storm this weekend. I thought it would be like freshman year when there was supposed to be an ice storm, and people were talking about what would happen if school had to shut down, etc. - and then nothing ever happened.

So yesterday morning (after sleeping in deliciously late) I peeked through the blinds - and saw white. All white. Snow! I thought, threw on some clothes, and went outside with my camera.

First step outside, no, not snow. Definitely ice. It was very pretty. There were icicles hanging off the brickwork, the handrails, the picnic tables, cars. The trees outside our windows are coated in ice. Later in the day I went outside with Graham and Becky and Graham and I had fun sliding around on the ice and we picked off neat ice bits that had frozen on the leaves on the trees on top of the parking deck, that had the imprint of all the leaves veins on them. We crunched up some ice that was on top of grass to throw at Kim's window, but she didn't wake up.

Last night the band organized a broomball game on the athletic fields. On the way there I tried sliding like we had in the morning, which after some new freezing rain turned out not to be a very good idea and I fell on my butt and it hurt a lot. The field was pretty good though. Most people didn't actually have brooms. There were mops and Swiffers and a Wet Floor sign and a baseball bat and some tennis rackets, I had a poster tube, some people had dining hall trays, and one guy had a shovel (I stayed away from him). Everyone fell down a lot and it took about an hour before anyone even made a goal.

Today the ice is still there. I haven't ventured outside yet. It's supposed to get up into the 40s, so I don't think the ice will last long (probably just enough so it'll be hard to walk to the women's basketball game I have to play at today).
