Blood Test

A while ago the doctor at the health center said that if my paresthesia (tingling hand) didn't go away he'd order blood tests. On Friday he decided it was time for them so I go to phlebology and find out one of the tests he ordered is a fasting test.

So today I didn't get to eat anything from 7 am to 4 pm, and couldn't drink anything but water which frankly sucked ass. Then at the health center the nurse who showed me to the blood-room left me there for around ten minutes, then I saw her with her bag going home, so I walked into the lab next door and went "Excuse me? The nurse who put me in the room just left" and the lady there came out to take blood.

Right off the bat I said I'm allergic to latex, so she pulled out a non-latex band to tie my arm with, but then immediately went to put on latex gloves, which I recognized and had to stop her. Sigh. She was very nice, though.

But despite her being nice, something was funky with the vials (they weren't vacuum-y enough), so it took three veins in botha arms before she filled up the vials. I've realized that being poked with needles doesn't bother me at all. I guess it's from sewing and pricking myself so much, and how when I was younger I would stick pins under the calluses I had from playing on the bars at school.

Drum major auditions and the final pep band meeting tonight. That means we get our pep band money, which I plan to use to buy a USB memory stick, so I can transport data easily and not have to email it, and use a bazillion floppy disks to transfer pictures from computer to computer at home, plus the Keane CD, which all of us here started to like when they used a song on Grey's Anatomy.

In any case, today I learned that I definitely have teeny veins and that my tendency to low blood pressure does not make it easy to get my blood out of me, which I suppose is good.
